Last week The Family Ghost worked on "Fall Behind." Best recording session yet. Really fucking awesome. First we recorded Jacques's guitar and Paul's bass together in the hallway. That wsa the only real hiccup 'cuz Jacques kept messing up or perceiving he was messing up and getting pissed off as he does so we had to do a few takes. It ended up sounding nice. We recorded Ryan's guitar and I did some extra processing, running a separate direct line of his giutar into the modular and that all sounded really really awesome. All parts of his guitar are like the session's shining moment. Then we put in my synth part and it went pretty standard. Jacques wanted to do some extra synth stuff to go along with the guitar (pretty John Carpentery). He did two different types of tracks of that and I even did another one from an idea it gave me. I did the vocals in the bathroom and they went very well. I was belting the shit ouf of the loud parts and only had to redo one line 'cuz it was peaking really bad. I couldn't get far enough away or direct my voice far enough away and finally got it by sitting on the floor. Then I worked on an intro thing sort of expanding my hissing on the first word and modulating into an extended white noise jam. It went on late into the night and both Paul and Ryan were asleep on various pieces of furniture. What else the rest of the week? The work week had some terrible days and some good days. Anything specific that I can remember? Don't think so. Not much sleep except the night before the gym on Thursday. Last night Mary Beth and I had a Huey's dinner and went to see Zero Dark Thirty. Definitely not as good as The Hurt Locker. Trying to decide whether I like it or not. Anyway, gearing up for recording today. Hopefully it'll go as awesome as last week.
