do the duty

i traded schedules yesterday and so i was offset a half hour...so i got off 30 minutes earlier to go to rehearsal for my high school alumni band...there's like ten damned percussionists so i probably won't be actually playing all that much, but it was neat to see a few people i hadn't seen in forever...i hung around afterwards and got a little tour of the school from Pat (current band director, was a class ahead of me in high school and band president my junior year...) it's always kinda weird when things are kinda the same but different...uh, yeah, anyway...

then today was my qualifying/signing up or whatever for jury duty...so i woke up super early and went downtown and all that...it actually didn't last long at all...i got there super early but once it started i was only there like 30 minutes...i was like first in line when they called out the week i wanted (which was the first week...) so that part was nothing...so i'll be serving from june 2nd to the 6th...i'm actually kinda weirdly excited about it...the only thing that worried me at first was if it'd get in the way of the few times i'm going out of town...but nay...i mean a paid week off work and maybe it'll be interesting to boot...we'll see...and today i'm off work and it actually ended at a time when i still could have made it to work (if i hurried straight away from downtown...) but i have the day off which is better! so yeah, justice!

Pfffft. I've lost all faith in the judicial system.
If you get assigned to a civil lawsuit, please don't award a bunch of money to some dink who doesn't deserve it!

that'd be cool if you were assigned to a murder trail and the defendant was a gang member and you found him guilty and he had his gnag buddies kill aeveryone in the jury including you!

in the past Josh served on a jury for some gang related thing...and because it was gang related all the jurors' names were taken off the record or never in the record as having served...he actually got summoned the same day i did at a later time and had to dig up the paper they gave him as proof he had served in the past 10 years 'cuz there's no record of it...there's my fascinating Josh anecdote for the day!
