"A Tribute To"
Jan. 29th, 2006 11:31 pmyesterday Jacques and i went flyering...we put 'em at the typical locales...they still look totally sweet...i did a fairly decent job of not spending money while we were out and about but at Lastchance i picked up:
Helium: No Guitars
Sun Ra: The Singles
then we got Amber and went to the drum shop...i got some fresh sticks...we had some chinese and swung by spin street to see if Michael was there, but since he wasn't we opted not to try to put the posters up and wait til he was there...i did get some stuff:
The Aristocrats dvd
Drift (Lee Ranaldo & Leah Singer) dvd
The Cure: Pornography (2 disc reissue)
then an evening of sitting around and hanging out and junk...
today i went with Amber to the dixon for this exhibit/lecture on Margaret Bourke-White...i hadn't been familiar with her, but i liked what i saw...she was a photographer for those who don't know (like me before today)...we were a little late getting into the lecture, but it was pretty alright nonetheless...was hoping there'd be some hot art student chicks but we were the only people under like 80 that weren't with their parents...i guess lectures and/or machine-oriented art aren't so hip these days...most of The Family Ghost got together (Josh couldn't make it though) and we started recording the Silkworm cover...it went pretty well...we first did the drums [Brad] and guitar [Jacques]...i'd decided to have my amp in the bathroom and we couldn't hear it too well anyway so thought i'd just dub my guitar part afterwards since it's more accompaniment anyhow (and we're having to dub the bass later too)...and that worked pretty well...we got the basic tracks and then my guitar too...it sounds pretty dern good...we're working on half the tracks [8] since most of the other half are fucked up on the tape machine...but i guess it's enough anyway...so there we are with that and that's pretty swell...
