Too Easy to Make a "Nightmares" Joke
Aug. 28th, 2022 08:25 amYesterday I ran a bunch of errands in the afternoon. First I went and got the car's oil changed. Then I went to Macy's to get myself a new pillow. It had been a long time coming. I think my new pillow is comfy! Okay, then a trip to Target. That was pretty nondescript but I did make an impulse buy in the checkout line and got one of those Dreamworld Cokes. Hm. Okay, I think my facebook "review" covers it pretty well:
Assessment: tastes somewhere between very-fake-raspberry and toothpaste. It's not QUITE disgusting but it is FAR from good. They definitely would not be able to sell any of this if they'd picked a name that remotely described its actual taste.
I felt shame the instant I picked it up for falling for such an abjectly stupid marketing ploy, BUT I do love soda and novelty so I went for the impulse buy. And the packaging kind of evokes that it might taste like cotton candy or something (which wouldn't be GREAT, but at least would be worth a one-time curiosity drink).
I do NOT at all recommend getting this, even if you're somehow morbidly curious. Coca-Cola needs to lose money and think long and hard about why they're wasting their time with this bullshit and not making their utterly delicious Georgia Peach flavor anymore.

UPDATE: Gave up and poured the final third down the drain.
This is still haunting me (not so much the actual taste in my mouth as the FEELING of having drunk it, if that makes any sense?). I think I spoke too soon in calling it "not QUITE disgusting" as it didn't have the urge to immediately spit it out, but there is definitely a palpable and lingering disgustingness that permeates this unholy beverage.
And there was a lot of fun back-and-forth with others about how disgusting this drink is (though one person chiming in who likes it...NOT TO BE TRUSTED!). I also kinda of thought it tastes like a fruitier Crystal Pepsi. I've since seen many comparisons to Mango Pepsi but Mango Pepsi is delicious and actually tastes like mango while this has a more ambiguously artificial fruit taste. Anyway, I guess that was the big event of the day. Other than that, Mary Beth and I took a walk in the evening and as we were out we felt it starting to sprinkle so we headed back home and mostly managed to avoid the rain until we got to our block and then it really came down.
