Lunch yesterday was a little get-together for Jason's farewell at Forest Hill Grill out in Germantown. What should have been about a thirty minute drive turned into a fifty minute drive due to a crazy-ass detour. So I'm going to take the south loop over there, so I go down Airways and when I get to the on-ramp there's a cop car blocking it. So damn, I have to go to the next exit. Going south down Airways I didn't have much choice but to take Democrat over to Lamar. So I go out over that way and then get onto the on-ramp there, but as I start on it I see it's really backed up and at this point I realize the interstate is just going to be too fucked to drive. So I'm able to avoid getting on it but I'm already on the ramp system and my only other choice besides being in standstill traffic is to take the interstate in the opposite direction. So I'm stuck on that with no other options til it takes me back to Airways. And then that far south, there really isn't even much other option to get out to where I'm going without just driving back up to Park (and now we're getting somewhat close to back where I fucking started from!). So I do a giant loop to end up back where I started that ended up taking close to the whole time I should have been driving to get there only to be stuck taking a slower route. But it was fine, I only ended up being twenty minutes late and I still beat Avi! The lunch was good. Nice to see people I hadn't seen in so so long. And since it was going to be the last time to see Jason and all... Okay, after work Mary Beth and I went on a walk around the neighborhood. I had a little deployment at night and it went fine. Before bed I finished reading Immortality by Milan Kundera. It was pretty good. For a while I thought I wasn't going to like it very much and maybe dislike it but it got better as it went on more towards the end.
