Friday Day

Had a pretty fun-packed day off yesterday. I got a cd in the mail: Unsane: Improvised Munitions & Demo. Mary Beth and I went and picked up lunch from that Parish Grocery and took our food over to eat in the park. Their food is good! Especially insofar as you can't even get anything resembling real poboy bread in town and you definitely can't get any roast beef debris. And I wouldn't've expected this to be as good as the best I've had in New Orleans, but it was definitely the closest I've gotten. Funny little story about when I called in the order. I was asking about a drink and first asked for an Arnold Palmer but was told they're out of both tea and lemonade. So I was looking for another drink and asked what this "parish punch" was? I was told they don't have it because it's grape lemonade but that I definitely would not want it even if they did have it. Well, so we go to the park and get ourselves situated on a picnic table and start eating and the weather's so lovely and everything's going so well. Then a bee comes along and starts going around my sandwich. Then a swarm of bees start getting all around us! We gathered our food back up (one at a time, because Mary Beth saw when we were both going the squirrel that was on the table when we arrived was coming back and going for our food too). Anyway, we rescued our food and ate in the car which wasn't as nice but better than bees. After that we went for a walk through the old forest trails. We even walked in the part that's across the park-road that we usually don't go in. Got a lot of walking done and the weather was cool and crisp and nice. At nice we played a bunch of games of Splendor. Then we watched some The Simpsons. Good day together!
