In Office

Long time no see! Yesterday I realized that the a/c was not working. Had gradually felt like it was getting hotter inside over the last couple days, but by yesterday morning I could clearly tell that the air coming from the vents wasn't cold (having the air on did do a little to improve the temperature, but not a whole lot). So throughout the day we were just dealing with the heat. I got a cd in the mail: Forbes Graham and Victoria Shen: Topologies (funny timing too as it had been a good while and I had decided that yesterday would be the day that, having really already given up on it arriving but still giving a token cushion of time, if it hadn't made it by then, I'd reach back out about it, but then it came right on my "deadline" so I didn't have to bug anyone, yay!). After work I went and picked up Trudy's flakes from the vet and got my passport renewal mailed (not that we actually have any plans to go anywhere! just fixing the fact that it had expired about two years ago). Then I spent a good chunk of the evening getting things ready to take to work in the morning since I haven't had to go in in...over sixteen months! Found out some things like my backpack was all fucked up and covered in mold so had to figure out another way to carry my stuff. So yeah, today I got up and went in (and will for the next two days as well) for a big war room testing session. I get in and start setting up in the area where I used to work as that's where I understood we were going to meet. Shortly afterwards someone comes by to tell me I have to get off the third floor as there's a structural issue and it's now off-limits. So they had started getting things together in a small conference room on the second floor (not really enough room for our whole group, but whatever, we managed). Then I had all kinds of goofy issues in the beginning: my right arrow key got stuck and I had to go search around this unfamiliar part of the building to find something to clean it with, then I couldn't access the wifi (but they got resolved). For about half the day there wasn't much going on dealing with me, but the second half of the day ended up being quite busy with troubleshooting and throwing fixes together. Now I'm home! It wasn't too bad, but it was weird being in the office and dressing up and actually talking to people (at least masks are back to being required), and not just being nice and comfy at home! Oh, and got the word that the a/c had been fixed just a little before I came back home so it feels normal again, yay!
