After grocery shopping, we realized we'd forgotten to pick up some sushi that was on sale, so when we got back home and brought the stuff inside, I went back up to pick it up. I tried a couple different ones but it never took off anything from the price so I guess it wasn't meant to be. Not really an anecdote of any consequence, just a mildly annoying thing. Then we had a Memphis Concrète meeting up at Otherlands. Luís, Jacques, and Chris were there. We talked of some stuff and planned some stuff and it was fine. Then I went and got my oil changed. This was a big event 'cuz, since the Valvoline near us moved, I keep going back to this shitty Jiffy Lube that's like the only other thing nearby that I'm aware of and keep having awful experiences but then enough time passes that I forget the degree of how awful it is and I may think about going somewhere else but I don't know where else to go and I just end up going back there like a goddamn sucker. Well, after how absolutely shitty that last time was, I seared it into my brain not to ever go there again. Tried to find the closest Valvoline, they all seem somewhat equidistant way the fuck away, but I picked the one on Stateline Rd. as maybe the slightly closest. Anyway, I went there and had some good service and was happy with it! Apparently I'd had an oil leak and they just fixed it without any extra charge and that was pretty nice! After that I went up to Crosstown Brewery to see Alex play some. The place is exactly what you'd expect from a newer brewery thing. Big and open with way too many suburban types of people. Betsy and Mark were there and I talked to them a bit. Didn't stay super long as I'm way out of my element there, but picked up some bagels from the market while I was in the neighborhood (they carry Dave's bagels which Mary Beth is extremely into). Later in the afternoon I finished reading The Inquisitory by Robert Pinget. It was good, it feels like there was this puzzle going on that I have to suss out a bit more (though maybe not, maybe it's just set up to make me think that!). Some of the many super-detailed passages could border on tedious, but overall there was an effect I appreciated in it. And later in the evening Mary Beth and I randomly watched some more Seinfeld again. I passed out on the love seat and then went to bed for a long time.
