Mary Beth and I used a Texas de Brazil gift card we'd had (we still have another one!) for a very awesome lunch yesterday. Lots of wonderful things from the salad bar and lots of meat. I kept looking around to see what was coming and saying no to anything I'd already had so I'd have room for anything new that came along, a guy came up to me and asked if I was looking for anything in particular so I felt conspicuously awkward. Then later another guy came up and asked if we were waiting for the lamb. And, I mean, we weren't going to say no! (Mary Beth had specifically wondered about lamb earlier 'cuz she likes lamb and it feels like a holidays thing to her.) He said something about it getting put in late and it takes long to cook but then brought it out so that was nice (and it was very good, probably the best of the many good things they brought out). So yeah we filled up and were there a good while and it was good. Later in the afternoon I did some stuff, what was it? I practiced some drums a little bit. Oh yeah, then Mary Beth and I just passed out on the bed from a food coma. I wasn't even under the covers and was still fully clothed, wearing my shoes. I just passed out a few hours. Later I worked on editing down the recording of my show. I'd also recorded the last practice run, earlier in the afternoon before the show. I want to combine the two recordings together, but it turns out the tape speed was a little different between them and the practice recording is a little slower than show recording so that by the end of the thirty minutes, it's somewhere, I forget exactly, like maybe ten to thirty seconds behind. I may be able to do some work on it to make adjustments but it'll be tricky and take some time. Then it took me a long time to come up with a decent name for the piece (I finally settled on "Yuletide Carol for Tape and Modular Synthesizer" after almost settling on something else that wasn't as good). Then Mary Beth and I went to a "dirty santa" party at Chris and Megan's. It was a good time. For once the dirty santa exchange wasn't a liquor exchange, but goofy presents. The mechanics worked the same, but I didn't have to feel like an outsider in it all. We got a pack of these cards "oracle" cards that are unicorn themed. Mary Beth is very into them. They all have ridiculous platitudes on them about things like friendship and teamwork and love etc. The best one is for friendship and it has a cat putting its paw on a unicorn's face. Anyway, much talking and hanging out and merriment, etc. I got a bit caffeinated and sugared up. Now it's a new day. Yesterday felt like a Saturday so it's wonderful for it to be another Saturday all over again!
