The Backup
May. 30th, 2018 05:55 pmMary Beth and I went to see another Memphis in May/Indie Memphis Czech movie. This was a new movie (last year anyway, I think) called Ice Mother. It was really good. A nice character study, almost might qualify for an American "quirky indie" kinda movie if it weren't through a lens of European flatness (not flat as in deadpan humor, but flat). That was a bad review but whatever (I don't mean Bad Review, but a review done badly). Okay, then I get out of the movie to find there's been a production issue with the switchover. So Mary Beth and I walked back home from the theater in the rain and I went to helping troubleshoot the issues. Some things got resolved but it was at night so not much traffic was coming through afterwards. Found some more issues in the morning. These weren't horrible break-everything issues. This morning's find was just that some data was missing from emails being sent out. So I got to fixing that and it's fine but we realized there wasn't enough being pulled from the datastream fast enough and it was backing up with several hours delays. And some communications have a ten minute cutoff window (if it takes longer we don't send 'cuz it won't be relevant anymore) so none of that was getting sent after like the first one. Anyway, long boring story short, it was a eventful day. At least it wasn't catastrophic or anything, but still. Now I'm home and just exercised and I got to sleep late last night so I'm tired!
