I got the new soldering iron tip in the mail today...and it doesn't fit either! (Another case of JUST too BIG...argh! Not sure what the fuck I'm going to do about it now. Maybe I need to find a whole new iron/pen thingie that'll work with it...?) Not much other than that. I forgot to share my thoughts on the nobel prize yesterday. Quite a few things, but mainly it comes down to the many living writers more deserving than Bob Dylan. Not being a fan of his, I'm sure that colors things, but it's more than just that. I don't have some ivory tower level perspective on literature, but if it's going to go to a musician...I mean, is Bob Dylan really lacking in awards such that this really serves some benefit to him or anyone? Part of the importance of the award is shedding light on literature and writers, which is a pretty isolated realm. Bob Dylan has no shortage of limelight. Others have probably expressed my thoughts much better, but whatever. Mostly it feels kinda like another Winston Churchill. This year's award doesn't fill me with rage or anything like that, but it's a little disappointing. It also feels like their recent reaction against that decade plus or so of going relatively obscure has landed them in a pretty extreme position. Hopefully enough deserving writers won't die before they get their chance at it.
