Mean Parking Lots
Mar. 22nd, 2016 07:57 pmSaturday night Mary Beth and I did some drive-in marathoning! It was four Scorsese movies this time (Mary Beth was a sport for putting up with it, she's not nearly the fan I am): Goodfellas, The Departed, Taxi Driver, and After Hours. It was nice to see Goodfellas again, I think I appreciated it even more this go-round. Never seen The Departed, and given that it's from 2006 I wasn't expecting much but it was better than I thought it'd be. Pretty good, actually (though not great, and felt longer than it probably needed to be, though there were things I liked about it). I loved Taxi Driver as always (sorry, honey). And I was enjoying After Hours again, but I fell asleep halfway through or so. It was just so late and I wasn't prepared sleep-wise. Ah well. This one wouldn't've ended up being AS long as the Kubrick one, but it was close and much longer than the apocalyptic movies one.
So Sunday was, of course, a bit off-kilter, waking up around 1 pm or so. Mary Beth and I finished the first season of Better Call Saul and it was pretty good. I did some phone banking for Bernie after work today. I went up to Otherlands and it was the first time I was there by myself. But it actually went really really well. I was calling Washington and everyone I actually got through to talk to about voting was pro-Bernie! And it was quite a few so that was a pretty nice morale booster. Anyway, I'm also hopeful about today's primary results when they start rolling in in a few hours. Oh shoot. Almost forgot to mention that I got back in touch with Cook yesterday for my six month evaluation and my raise is coming through at the end of the month! Woohoo! I'll be back to or about back to what I was making when I started teaching. My finances will be much happier.
