Amidst some errand running yesterday, Mary Beth and I went to see The Force Awakens. We got the last matinee screening at 4. We bought tickets on the smartphone on the way (and it was sold out by the time we arrived). It did a good job of doing what it was trying to do (be a Star Wars movie). The whole thing was pretty much structured around paralleling the first movie (which was mostly fine, effective in the goal of aligning this incarnation of the franchise with the original series, but at times did veer towards overkill/unoriginality). A lot of the "oh we're old characters you love reuniting etc" dialogue was pretty cheesy (luckily there wasn't a ton of that). Some of the jokes calling back to the original series felt a little forced. Anyway, overall it was alright. We continued our evening of being like everybody else by using up some Olive Garden gift cards. Then the grocery store part of the errands. Fun stuff!
