On Tuesday Mary Beth and I went to see a free advance screening of Amy (the documentary about Amy Winehouse). Not sure I'd actually heard her music before. Seems like maybe I'd something in passing along the way? Couldn't remember anything though. Definitely not a fan of her music after watching it and finally hearing a bunch of it, but as a documentary it was pretty good and you definitely feel a good bit of sympathy for her. Yesterday we went to this Indie Memphis sponsored panel (they do one every month about some aspect of movie-making). This month it was about soundtrack and music stuff so I was especially interested in this one. It was pretty interesting, though nothing terribly revelatory. Today after work I finally got to go jogging after a good while (at least not nearly as long as I'd gone without before the last time...well, maybe nearly, less than a week...that's a plus). Was kinda slow at work earlier, but the past couple days picked up. I've gotten to write a few web services! A couple were really easy and just versions of an existing one with something extra. But I spent over a day working on one that I thought would take less time. It ended up being annoyingly more involved because of the way the database had a primary key on a certain table defined (dumb, I say). And I'd copied some logic from somewhere else that, as I tweaked it, ended up not applying as much as I thought it might so I had to rewrite the logic a good bit. Anyawy, it was fun to do all that though and I felt "creative" and useful. Yeah. Oh fuck. The other day in the shower I had a fucking revelation. Almost all at once ideas and mechanics for a board game sprung into my head. There's still quite a good bit that needs a LOT of working out, but I really feel like I'm on to something! Yesterday Jacques played my song "Staggered Motion" on his online radio show. So that's pretty cool. Anyway, that's about it for now.
