Practice was Sunday and it was the first time Paul was present to work on the new sampler-driven song. Not sure how crazy I am about the new bass part. Feel it completely changes the tone of the song and what I was doing on the synth no longer seems to fit. After practice I made some bass drum sounds on the dotcom for Jacques to sample. Monday was the Hannibal Buress show. The first time Mary Beth and I had ever been to Minglewood. It was even crappier than I would have imagined (and I had low low expectations for the venue). I was dumb and wore my Homer Simpson chucks and didn't pay attention to the fact that it was raining and then pouring. There was a river along the street where we parked, but I managed to keep 'em as unsoaked as humanly possible. Um. There were two comedians before Hannibal. Was glad Mary Beth has earplugs on hand 'cuz the volume of the music and the people shouting and stuff, I started getting some ear pains (wasn't thinking I'd need 'em for a comedy show). The two before him were pretty funny for the most part. Hannibal was funny. I probably like his character on Broad City more than his actual stand up, but it was good and I laughed. Afterwards we hit up Huey's. Yesterday after work we walked over to the movie theater to see a free screening of Quai des Orfèvres and enjoyed that. Today my car was FINALLY ready. It took 'em forever to even find anything wrong. They'd quoted me it'd be 500-something yesterday (for the distributor) but today they told me it ended up being the main relay and it was only 100-something. Much better. So we just got back from picking it up. It's still loud on the road and shakey, I'm wondering if it needs new shocks and maybe breaks. I might take it somewhere else about that sometime in the not-too-distant future. Been working on this thing at work that's been taking forever, but I feel like I'm making progress or at least making steps towards finding what needs to be done maybe. Oh yeah, and this awesome cd (Disasterpeace: It Follows soundtrack) showed up on Monday. Some new work shirts showed up yesterday.
