Car Car Car
Apr. 18th, 2015 02:29 pmWas gonna take Mary Beth's car to get checked out Thursday night, but on the way her check engine light went away so never mind. Yesterday I finally started feeling productive at the beginning of work and then my laptop shit out on me. Too slow to do anything. I finally started scanning it, but it took all day and it was at 31% when I left (though it picked up and was at 95% by the time I got home). Hopefully I can show up Monday, run the thing I had ready before all that happened and it will work and I will be done and feel like I actually did something. If there's still more work to do that'll just be shit. Yesterday evening Mary Beth and I went to see an exhibit at Glitch that was pretty good (I liked the fake backstory about a guy who died young etc). I especially liked the projected film. After that we went down to Africa in April. We had some food (corndogs and barbecue chicken nachos from Lou's, so good). There was a dude near the food booths that was playing some African instrument. Some string thing with pickups. It was really awsome. Not sure exactly what it was, but it sounded like some traditional African Music mixed with highlights of no wave or something. Then we went over to the main area for live music. Mostly wasn't good. Some decent for fair kinda stuff I guess. The last act we saw was this jazz band. I got worried at first 'cuz the bass player was poppin' all over the place while setting up. So, oh, it's gonna be that kinda jazz. But the first song was pretty darn good. I was really into it. After that, however, it was that kind of jazz and it got funkier and talk showier and the bass player began to soar. There were still moments here and there, I guess, but yeah it'd stopped being good. Today I dropped my car off to get the tires rotated and brakes checked out (and after their phone call it did need new brake shit). Josh and Molly picked me up from the place and we went over to the food truck festival. The girls were there too. Ended up getting stuff from this barbecue truck with a smoker on it. The smoked sausage was especially fucking awesome. My food came out pretty quick (some people were waiting, mostly on nachos, I think). Josh got nachos and ended up waiting awhile and it turned out they'd forgotten about him. Doh! Oh yeah, and last week I forgot to mention this movie I saw. Atari: Game Over, about the demise of Atari with a focus on E.T. and the whole landfill thing. I thought it was pretty great and I didn't know that the guy who did E.T. was the guy who fucking did Yars' Revenge. I'm a nerd and it even pulled my emotional strings. I gotta go play E.T. (I mean, haven't attempted since I was a kid, and was definitely too young to figure it out).
