Class 3 Killstorm
Feb. 16th, 2015 01:14 pmFriday night Mary Beth and I went to see that Fifty Shades of Grey movie. It was funny. Apparently not as awful as the book, but I guess that's not saying much. It was sold out and seems most people were laughing at it too (I mean, there was humor, but there was laughter at some of the less than humorous stuff). It is funny that it ends with her dumping him, and as the screen went black someone yelled out "you go girl" and everyone laughed. Saturday was very busy. It was Valentine's Day. After some general hanging out, Mary Beth made some delicious fucking pancakes. She also gave me The Big Midweek: Life inside The Fall by Steve Hanley & Olivia Piekarski. After a late start, we went over to Matt and Genie's for Housecon III (we finally made it to one!). When we got there they were wrapping up some other game so Mary Beth and I played Mr. Jack together and it was pretty fun. Sort of like a less boring Clue. Then we all got together and played Mysterion (I think it's called in English, it's Polish and hasn't been released here yet, Matt imported it and got translated instructions off the internet, it's won a bunch of awards lately, the title on the box means Mysterious Mansion in Polish). It's strangely a perfect cross between Dixit and Clue. One player is a ghost who was killed a hundred years ago or whatever and you're all these people staying in this old house for a week and the ghost is trying to get rest so he's giving you these clues in your dreams. The clues are much like the cards in Dixit and of course have a bunch of weird, dreamlike, random stuff on them. You go through, the what, where, and finally who trying to match your dream card to the cards laid out. The ghost can't talk, of course. So it's a cooperative game, even with the ghost. It was a lot of fun. After that Mary Beth and I had to leave to go to the internet cat video thingie. It was a lot less good this year. But some stuff was funny, and I got to draw a cat, and put a googly eye on James Joyce's crotch. After we went back over to Matt and Genie's. We played another game of Mysterion and were getting better. Then everyone played Ladies & Gentlemen. That was a pretty interesting game in that it's like two different games interlocking. I was a dude. Gary had been struggling to get a dress (he was playing a lady) and at one point I said to his "husband," "Your wife is trash!" and everyone about died of laughter. That was my moment. Though I was a pretty terrible businessman and we came in last. We ended way late into the night with some Cards against Humanity. Shortly after setting up the board Matt just flew backwards and knocked the whole table over with cards and beer. Luckily not too much damage. I confounded everyone at a point laughing the hardest anyone had laughed while judging a round. They were expecting to hear something funny, but they didn't (I thought it was funny as fuck! probably sleep deprivation was playing a role as well, but it's still funny). So the thing was like "Act now! If you order _ within the next 15 minutes, we'll throw in _ absolutely free!" So what made me laugh was "clams" and "geese." Yeah, still best joke ever. The best part was the person who played that was just throwing cards away and had gotten up to go to the bathroom and had no idea what was going on. So it's super late and we finally get home after 4 am. So practice the next morning. Reluctantly got up. On top of my tiredness I had (STILL HAVE) a terrible ache in my shoulder/upper-back. Practiced, ate at Huey's. Took a nap afterwards. I had to write a resume and bio using FastTrack's template 'cuz most of the companies that use them still like to go through standard job interview crap. I was kind've out of it so I procrastinated a while but finally got it done. So I got to sleep late again. Woke up and all that this morning. Now there's snow and ice and shit all outside. I'm checking for anything about class being cancelled on the message board, but nobody's said anything so I venture out. It takes me at least twenty minutes to scrape the ice off my windshield and other windows. It's after 8 I even leave and still nothing from the class. So I'm driving and yeah, the roads are some of the worst I've driven on in a good long while. Just sheets of ice everywhere. I'm driving really slowly. Mostly around 20 mph, 30 when I finally get to the interstate (it's also the first day at the new location so I'm going a new route too). Over halfway there, I got a call from Jonathan (nuddles) and got word that class was cancelled. People put it up in the message board, but it wasn't til later, after I'd already left. So that was good, I was at least able to turn around at Mt. Moriah. From when I went out to my car and when I returned it was about an hour. I just slept a few more hours. Yay. Now it's like a snow day and shit. Mary Beth's still asleep. All in all, had a great weekend with my wife. Now what lazy things can I do?
