I did a teensy bit of recording last night. I threw in my drone/atmosphere synth on the song Paul will be singing on. Then I started one track of Prophet for some solo thingie to work on. A little after midnight the power went out from the storm. So, the first thing I do in the pitch black is get up and run into the fucking door, smashing the shit out of my eye. It looked pretty bad at first with the blood and whatnot, but I don't think it's TOO bad (hurt like a motherfucker at the time, of course). The actual cut, which is on the corner of my brow, is on the small side. My actual eyelid is swollen though. Anyway, I was up a good bit reading in the lamplight and I finished The Path to the Nest of Spiders by Italo Calvino. It was really good. Definitely different from his other work. It's his first book: a neorealist war novel, no fantasy elements or oulipo machinations. But the writing is really excellent and the story's nice and interesting too. There's one kind of monologue followed by internal monologue or whatever towards the end that felt a little forced, but aside from that it was a very nice read (it's even better than some of his more Calvino-like works, but definitely doesn't match his best). Anyway, now that it's the morning, gotta get ready and shit.
