Valentimes
Feb. 16th, 2013 10:48 amLast week we worked on "Battle Chant." We spent three hours working on the treatments for the drum machine. Then we worked on recording the bass. Well, we couldn't get it to sound just right and after we finally got one run through it was late and my neighbor asked us to stop. Well, we ended up di-ing the bass through the modular's instrument interface and we got the sound we wanted that way. Then Ryan recorded the chords of his synth part and that was it. So the song's maybe halfway down. Not sure if we're gonna continue with it today, but I think we should. Sunday, I was awoken by a call from my mom that my grandmother was short of breath and was asked to take her to the hospital. So I did and Mary Beth came with me and shortly after we got her checked in my dad arrived. We were up there a few hours and I went back home to work on work and wasn't able to make it to the gym. Oh, my grandmother's okay. This happens maybe twice a year and it's the same thing. Then it was the work week. I was observed on Tuesday and it wasn't so great, but I think I may have had a breakthrough on at least something I've been doing wrong after my post-evaluation talk with the ap. Maybe I can finally start doing discipline right. Or better anyway. I think I've had my send-out-to-the-office threshhold set too high. I guess I still need to unlearn some things I learned at Melrose. Anyway, Valentine's Day was nice this Thursday. Mary Beth and I got some pizza and watched Primer. I got super-awesome presents from her, two cds: Herb Deutsch: From Moog to Mac and Carter Tutti Void: Transverse. Last night we got pizza again while keeping up with Community and Parks and Rec. I also went to the gym last night. It was good. I full on bench pressed with a spot for the first time since my sickness and faced up to the fact that I had gone down 10 pounds. If I keep up at it I should make it back, I'm close to completion where I am (too bad it's way way back). We got up early again and had breakfast at Brother Juniper's. Ooh. I should also mention the whoopie pie and burfie Mary Beth made, and banana curry. Such good stuff.
