I don't know why I neglected to mention in my last post that not too long earlier that morning I had gotten up and gotten my car inspected. It was awesome 'cuz, even though it was a Saturday, almost no one was there and we didn't even have to wait at all. Pretty unexpected and awesome. Anyway, The Family Ghost got together and we worked on "Death Blow." First the rest of the band recorded their parts live together. We punched in just a couple overdub patches on guitar and bass and then Jacques and I recorded Jacques's vocals. Last I recorded my Moog part. Annoying 'cuz my memory had been erased and I had to completely reconstruct the sound. Normally that wouldn't be too bad but this song's sound is completely based around the 3rd oscillator fm modulating the first and that's real finnicky. I got pretty close to the sound, but I may eventually go back and retweak the sound and see if I can redo it. It was super late by the time all that was finished. Sunday I skipped the gym to get ready for work (though I didn't do much work). Then a work week. It all just blurs together. I got to download the new Autchre Thursday (with my cd preorder). Got to listen to snippets here and there yesterday and from what little I hear it's completely fucking awesome. I was listening to it some on my lunch (I was alone at the time) and then some of my students came in and one was like what the hell is this!? He asked if it's the music I made and was relieved when I said it wasn't. He said it sounded like some people randomly banging on a garbage can. That review alone is enough to recommend a new Autechre record! Grades were due Thursday so I didn't get much sleep. For that reason I held off on the gym til last night. It went pretty awesome. I'm back to where I was on the press before the sickness. Passed out early last night so upon waking up early I suggested breakfast. We went and had some Bryant's and it was damn good and shit.
