Mary Beth and I went to see a matinee of The Tree of Life on Thursday. I enjoyed it. Parts of it were very reminiscent of 2001 and that's usually a good thing. Then in the evening I went over to Josh's and gave him a drum lesson. He'd just gotten an electronic kit and I think he made a bit of improvement in the short time. So then yesterday we (Mary Beth and I of course) get up and go to the Y and work out and stuff. We incorporated some new lifts into the routine. Afterwards we met Ryan for a late lunch at Soul Fish. Early in the evening I worked on laying down the drum machine track for "Histrionics." I made it across 6 damn tracks. I made use of the individual outputs for the different drums. And the three drums left over that don't have their own output still have a stereo out, which I split so the toms and bongos were still separate (though the handclaps are "center" and that was the only thing I don't think went as well as could have, the two treatments for the toms and bongos were perfect for them, but neither was ideal for the handclaps, still not bad or nothin'). So as I alluded, just about all of the drums got their own signal path and their own treatment. A lot of wires, but I'm pretty happy with it. I'll have to lay down my bass and synth parts soon and the song'll be almost done save the other band members' parts! Anyway, later we went to the Pandh and once again met Ryan and did some karaoke. I started with "It Must Have Been Love" then Ryan and I did a duet of "Let's Make Love" (of Faith Hill and Tim McGraw fame, neither Ryan nor I had heard this song before and that combined with its title made it a perfect choice). It was pretty sweet, though I had trouble keeping it straight throughout. Ryan did grab my ass in the middle of it (the song, not the middle of my ass). Anyway, I guess that's about it for now.
