on thursday Mary Beth and i went to see Bill Callahan at the hi-tone...it was a pretty good show...the dude that opened was Jonathan Meiburg who is from some band called Shearwater...he was actually pretty good...he opened with "Nibelungen" which would be unexpected for anyone, i guess...then Bill Callahan's set was pretty decent...the dude that opened and the drummer in his band were the backing band...the drummer's name is Thor and it's pretty sweet 'cuz he actually looks like a Thor too! viking beard and mane...i got some merch: Shearwater: Palo Santo, Smog: Dongs of Sevotion, and a Bill Callahan t-shirt, mostly 'cuz it has a pretty lookin' picture on it!

after work on friday i came home and finished reading Lord Jim by Joseph Conrad...Mary Beth and i went out to cordova to Matt's place where he was having a mini-party of sorts...like board games and stuff...we played the mormon version of settlers of catan...

yesterday was a pretty sweet day...we didn't really have anything to do and it was so nice outside...we took a walk over to Xanadu and got some books...my haul was: Because They Wanted To by Mary Gaitskill, Our Lady of the Flowers by Jean Genet, Blood and Guts in High School by Kathy Acker, Up above the World by Paul Bowles, Difficult Loves by Italo Calvino, The Wild Geese by Ogai Mori, and Angle of Repose by Wallace Stegner...then the dude working there talked to us forever about tubes...the owner came by and he's nice but a long conversation ensued...after that we went out east to some new korean place on hack's cross...Du Won Jung, it's called...it was quite good, much better than the other korean restaurant in memphis (which kind of sucks...) then um...well, i guess that's about it...
