finished reading Finnegans Wake by James Joyce yesterday at work...yikes! i went into it wanting to like it...i liked what i'd read about it...i've read books that don't make senese (Burroughs in particular) and loved them...but this book, this was not my kind of book...i'm sure there was so so much stuff just over my head...but even the little i understood, it was just bad puns strung together with no other content...i know a lot of it was just the pure sound of the language or whatever, but most of it just sounded silly and i didn't even get any aesthetic enjoyment from it...i really didn't get anything from it on any level (intellectual, aesthetic, visceral) by the time i'd finish a sentence there was no impression whatsoever left on me...just nothing...for the most part anyway...thursday night Mary Beth and i finished watching Pole to Pole...um, last night we went to spin street and i picked up Futurama: Bender's Big Score dvd (we watched it later too) and Miles Davis: Kind of Blue...today we met Ryan for some lunch at crumpet's and then we had a little gift exchanging! he gave me Múm: Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is OK...then i went to lastchance and got myself Free Music Quinet: Free Music 1 and 2...then we played Settlers of Catan: Cities and Knights for the first time (all the way through)! it was pretty awesome...lasts a good long time to and the depth it goes into is a lot of fun...well, i guess that's about it for now...
