the show was pretty alright...we were playing like at our best the sunday before but on the show night we weren't quite so lucky...it wasn't terrible despite Jacques's on stage announcement that it was our worst show ever (which he recanted shortly after the show...) we've played worse, we've played better...i got one of my best loops ever for "Taken"...anyway, our set went something like this (okay, exactly like this):
A Series of False Starts
Taken
Like Clockwork
Doctorate
The Longest Day of the Year
there was this weird thing where i'd been sweating like crazy and then my hand was dry and it wouldn't slide right when i was playing and i kinda was fucking up on the first song because of it...by the end i got used to it, but damn...anyway, after us Replicator played and they were awesome...they sound like Shellac but with the stage moves of Devo...they were super-nice dudes too...i got their newest cd: Machines Will Always Let You Down and a t shirt...they were out of almost everything except a ton of smalls, but the shirts ran large and i was able to make due with a medium...and then the band crashed over at my apartment and i stayed up even a little later chattin' with the dudes...
i was a little worried 'cuz i signed up to work overtime til midnight on thurdsay and friday...so having played a show and then being up late i was tired but it wasn't too bad...ooh, i also got several Replicator buttons to go on my messenger bag, they're sharp! i started off continuing my guring on thursday, but something weird happened...after my first break i came back and the girl i was guruing wasn't there...i waited a bit but still no sign...i had to track the fucking training person down and ask if she was coming back soon and she told me she was now sitting with someone else for the remainder of the two days and then walked off immediately...like not even a word why...oh well...then i worked a bunch of overtime...and then i worked a bunch of overtime yesterday...it wasn't as bad as i might've feared...i felt tired thursday but it wasn't too bad and i didn't really even feel tired yesterday...
oh yeah, and uh, on wednesday i received the package in the mail that the tracking information had originally said was sent back to the seller...it contained: Inland Empire and The Simpsons: the Complete Tenth Season...but the box was a bit beat up and taped up all weird and had a stamp on it saying "Received in bad condition at __" so i guess that was where the error stuff in the tracking initiated from (later the thing saying it was a wrong adress and sent back was changed as saying "undeliverable" online) but after they said it was returned i had emailed amazon and then amazon had sent me another so i got another box with the same stuff yesterday...crazy...anyway, i got my oil changed and while across the street from the library i couldn't help but stop by and get some cheap, used books: Finding the Center by V. S. Naipaul, All Tomorrow's Parties by William Gibson, Seven Gothic Tales by Isak Dinesen, The Odyssey by Homer (which i already have a copy of, but that one is a prose translation so i thought it'd be nice to have a more "proper" poetic translation you know if it costs $1), Daisy Miller by Henry James, and Galápagos by Kurt Vonnegut...
