so it was a pretty awesome show...i think we played well and it was some fun...the set went something like this:
Moment of Panic
Taken
A Series of False Starts
Phantom Limb
Placeholder
the only real mistake was one of us skipped a section in "Moment of Panic" but as it's the first time we've played that no one could have noticed...afterwards like two people we don't know said we were good and stuff...golly, how bout that! the girl that works there said we were good and gave us the best compliment possible: that we don't sound like anything in memphis...then she asked us where we're from (funny, 'cuz she's the person we talked to when we booked the upcoming two shows...) the manager of the club (who was insanely drunk), while saying we were really good and should come back anytime we want used the adjective "aggressive" to describe us...i guess that's funny 'cuz we always think of ourselves as really wussy...i guess some of our stuff's aggressive but the other stuff's extremely subdued...and to look at us on stage even when being "aggressive" we're just standing there hardly moving...i guess it's difficult to think of myself as being aggressive while i'm standing still...(sort of reminds me of Sonic Youth talking about how in the early days people would describe them as "violent" and then people would come to the shows expecting like goats sacrificed onstage and be disappointed...) apparently the music writer from the commercial appeal was there (i guess one of the guys from Spin Room works with him or something...) it'd be weird if we end up getting written about in the paper...i don't know whether i'd like to see a negative review or a positive one more...both seem equally appealing to me...oh well, we probably won't get mentioned at all...but it's amusing to think about...also, we got ANOTHER show set up for august (08/24 a wednesday)...this'll be with another band that messaged me on myspace (as did Social Junk who we're playing with next week...) so we'll be playing that show with Real Live Tigers, they're from austin, tx...they're pretty good so it should be fun...even though i was super-exhausted after the show i was semi-wired so i didn't get to bed 'til about 4...then i fucking woke up just after 8 this morning...(and on top of just being tired yesterday i've been a bit underslept for like the past week...) it sucked, i think having this cold's fucking with me...but i went back to sleep like 10-something and woke up 1-something...still not nearly enough sleep but oh well...rock and roll...
