After work Mary Beth and I did another walk around the neighborhood (lots of walking!). The weather's been pretty nice out there (early spring, with a hint of coolness in the air). I even broke out some shorts for the first time this year. Later at night I finally solved the Angular Material upgrade frustrations I'd been having. I had to do lots of trial-and-error digging deep down into browser inspector's css (with some additional looking up information for css quirks in forcing things to work, as I'd never had the pleasure of having to know what ::ng-deep was before...do I still really know exactly what it is!?). And what I've got now has the site looking much more correct, but I can tell it's probably not a good way to do this at all, lots of finnicky css (previously I'd gotten it looking how I wanted with one or two simple css tweaks...now there's a lot more and I can tell it'll probably be fragile with more upgrades). Maybe one day I can get it looking right in a more centralized way with Material itself, but I sure don't feel like messing with that any more right now!
