ateolf | part celebration, part rant

looking back at some old posts...making me feel happy about the band...and i'm reminded of a story from the other night i forgot to mention, the night we last practiced, earlier on...while waiting for Keith at Brad and Shade's house there was a group of ppl there...i had just walked into the living room and The Family Ghost was mentioned...Tim was saying something like "oh, no, i think they're good...though they're conceptual"...something like that...and Shade replied "conceptual like a blank canvas..." that's pretty fucking funny...i mean, we're no Bored to Tears or anything (his and Brad's and Keith's band) and none of us lip-sync along to the songs we don't sing on while pumping our fists and jumping around...and we don't write songs that sound just like "Sweet Jane" and are about Leavin' Home to Get Away from Your Problems but You'll Never Leave Your Problems Behind, Man...(e.g. "Better Days" the song Shade wrote for Bored to Tears...) i'm sure it sounds arrogant for me to say this, but he's really jealous of us...before Brad and Keith got sucked into The Family Ghost they were gonna start a slocore type band (they were gonna call Map Light) and Shade wrote a bassline for a song Keith was gonna use ("Uncurable" which became a Family Ghost song, and Shade's bassline stayed w/ it, though i modified it, improving it of course...) but Shade didn't wanna join them for that, he wanted to "keep all my eggs in one basket" and just stick w/ one style/one band...and now he has some resentment towards The Family Ghost (it prob'ly helped that they were around a few months longer than The Family Ghost, but the week before our first practice was Bored to Tears' last practice until just recently, w/ Keith's amp screwing up...and The Family Ghost has played two shows while B2T still hasn't played a show...and w/ the rest of his band being in The Family Ghost, he was prob'ly pretty annoyed...he missed his chance though...) i've gone on far more than i had planned...oh well...i just think it's funny that he mocks us...that's all...
