Yesterday after work I went up to Goner to pick up my preordered copy of Optic Sink: s/t. It was like a fifteen second interaction, but I still managed to be awkward as hell. I came in and said I had an order to pick up. The guy knew right away and handed me the bag with my name written on it. So I'm like, this guy knows who I am? And even with my mask on? And then I realize that when I'd asked I blurted something about the "Nots album" (Natalie being the singer of both bands). Then I'm all thinking, jeez he knows who I am and so of course I say something stupid. But then after thinking about it more, when I preordered I put the time I was going to pick up and I imagine they don't have that many pickups and especially around that time so it might have just been the only obvious choice. Anyway, I know I'm overthinking it and it's not like it's THAT egregious, but still. I had that dumb-social-interaction feeling for a little while. Later at night Mary Beth and I played a whole bunch of Splendor. After a bit she wanted to try playing without the nobles so we did a few games with that as well. There's fewer variables so in some ways it's more streamlined, but then in some ways it makes it feel harder 'cuz the other things matter more. If that makes sense.

Date: 2020-10-03 04:43 pm (UTC)Have you tried the expansion(s) (the one i have is box of mini expansions like, 4 different ways added on, don't remember them). It of course reduces the simplicity of the game but I think at least one or two of them make it worth while to have a different experience. I have to admit I never had the chance to play them since I got it on the tail end of my gaming splurge/spree/fascination.
