Landlord had said plumber was coming yesterday and he didn't. Then he said he was coming around 9 this morning. Still hasn't shown up yet. Took a cold shower yesterday and I guess I'm taking another one today. Cold showers in January are especially unpleasant. Though if you steel yourself up for the worst, it's not as bad as you're expecting, but yeah. If our heater (that's like air heater not water heater) was also broken then it obviously wouldn't even possible. Anyway, I'm just kind of bitching. Last night I went over to Paul B.'s. Hadn't hung out with him in forever. We just kinda sat around, chatted a little, watched horrible movies. The first was called The Uncanny. It's a very unscary horror movie about cats. So bad it's good? Yes! Sure, the cats really control everything and kill people and stuff, as the movie kinda plods along at a boring pace. But the music far oversells the action. It's very dramatic and then the camera shows cats just sitting around being cats and the effect there is pretty magical. Then a little later we put on Friday the 13th Part VI. Yeah, whew! What a stinker! Didn't stick around for the whole thing, but I saw quite a bit of it. They went campy as fuck on this one. I mean, the title sequence is a fucking parody of the James Bond title sequence and it's like, where the fuck is this coming from? It's that thing where you're trying to chock a horror movie full of a certain kind of humor and it ends up being far from either funny or scary. It is quite entertaining, however, to just sit back and watch the trainwreck. I wouldn't say it's so bad it's good, just entertaining to watch it be as bad as it is. There is one gag that they nailed and was really funny. So it has a scene where they're showing the young children in the camp falling asleep. And you see things like one kid asleep with a comicbook held open on his chest, and a few similar such things. Then there's one kid asleep with Sartre's No Exit open on his check and that was genuinely funny. Now it's another day and I need to see what the fuck's going on with our water heater situation.
