Hang Tuba

I played a show with Nonconnah last night. I got invited into it only the day before but I thought it'd be fun to come along and mess with some of the sounds I'd been doing for that Pierre Schaeffer tribute. It was a little sad 'cuz literally no one else showed up but us and the other band. Probably should have been at least one more local but I didn't set it up or anything. I thought we probably sounded pretty good. In Sonitus Lux, the touring group, were really great. I'd seen the guy before with the hang drum play with Nonconnah and it was pretty good then but it was really good last night. He was playing with a different partner, a guy playing tuba! Both of them ran their instruments through pedals and they had a nice atmospheric thing going on. Again, they were really good. Sad no one else was there to hear it. That is about it for now!

We had an experimental collective a while back that I saw a show of and heard there stuff on our local community station. The Tuba/Hang Drum/Pedal thing made me think of them. One guy did throat singing and stuff, I found his SoundCloud just now:

There was one other guy I really liked in that group that used things like scratched records and toy record players/toy instruments/circuit bent things but I can't remember his name...

Do you have a station in your area that supports local/weird stuff? They did one show with one of the local experimental musicians who hosts a show every sunday night with esoteric/experimental music. He streamed to their coffeehouse performance while they streamed to him to air on the radio. Was pretty cool.

The sounds awesome! We have a community radio station, but what it plays depends on who's hosting it. Mike Honeycutt, a guy who does music in our little scene, used to host a show on it back in the day but he doesn't anymore.
