Mary Beth and I went to a show last night up at Rock House Live. Nonconnah opened and they were really good. In addition to the usual percussion, Denny was playing some pedals and that was the first time I'd seen that and it was cool. Unwed Sailor was the touring band. A few of my friends have been into them since back in the day, but I'd never listened to them. They were really good. Reminded me kind of like Tristeza meets Explosions in the Sky. I got some merch, a t-shirt (it has cats on it, it was actually my second choice but they didn't have my size in my first choice) and two cds: Tour EP 2011 and Take a Minute. The last artist was another local act called Jack the Giant Killer. It was one guy playing post-rock guitar, lots of volume pedal and delay. He was really good. Never heard him before. I got one of his shirts too. So it was a good show and a fun time. Then there was work today. Ryan got back to me with this offer for Memphis Concrète to do a little promotion for this movie showing at Indie Memphis called A Life in Waves (it's a documentary about Suzanne Ciani, VERY excited about this!, she is one of my many electronic music heroes). So I have ten free tickets and did a little facebook giveaway. Two people have bitten so that takes care of four out of ten tickets. Now I need three more people to go for it! Anyway, pretty excited to be part of all this on some level. Left work a little early at my scrummaster's insistence and took that extra time to take my bike over to the park and do a bit of riding! Had some fun and I'm getting better at it. Balance is much easier and I can even take one hand off the handlebars for a second. Also more natural to stand up to pedal faster. The only negative was twice a damn bug got in my mouth (not likely the same bug). Now I'm back and whew!
