hearing music
Aug. 31st, 2001 04:26 amafter class i went and met Keith and Chris at the Flying Saucer...then Keith and i went to go see the Great Depression show at the Hi-Tone...Dale had given me a flier when i ran into him last night delievering the pizzas...so i decided to go...the first band was some country-rock horrible crap from Chicago...when they went "this is our last song" a little into the intro the house music started playing and the band's sound had been cut off...the main singer guy/bass player got pissed and threw one of the mics down along w/ its stand...it kind've sucks to have that happen, but then again i was just glad to not have to be listening to them that much longer...then The Great Depression played...they were good...their good stuff is really good but they have some songs that are kind've more rockin' alt-countryish...those aren't too good...the John Murray played...his first song was really good...then he did a cover of "Here" by Pavement...it wasn't that great of a cover but a cool song to do...it wasn't terrible or anything...but then the next two songs were really bad country rock things...one of 'em sounded like fucking Bob Seger...we left halfway through the fourth song of the set...Keith was tired anyway...leaving, i bought The Great Depression's cd (Could Be Never)...not much else to tell, i'm afraid...
ooh...there kind've is...pointless little aside...before the show we went to Taco Bell...actually we arrived early and then left to eat when i realized that i was hungry...we brought it back and ate in the small parking area in front of the Hi-Tone...there we were, outside waiting for the indie show to happen, eating Taco Bell stuff, listening to Yo La Tengo...the windows were rolled down too 'cuz my a/c's messed up...(not that that's really an important fact or anything) but i was just like, wow...i don't think it's possible to be any indier than this...we were so fucking indie...then...
