ateolfaiee! i'm posting this from the little laptop as my computer seems to be fried now...i'd just gotten home from work, started it up fine and dandy and was in the middle of doing just what i'm doing right now when the screen went suddenly black...the usual hum seemed to have stopped but the power light was on...an odd combination...anyway i turned it back on but it kept going off again...a few times it almost made it to starting up, but it won't stay on...i'm guessing it's the power supply...hopefully i can replace it...i don't know how much those run for...i guess i'll have to find out soon...
anyway, to resume my initial post: yesterday i got an email from teach memphis with my invitation to interview day...the headache is when it is: i have my choice of two saturdays (next and the one after), and of course i'm working...i MAY be able to trade days with someone next week, she was off today so i have to ask tomorrow to see if she'll be able/willing...if not i guess i can call in sick or something...anyway, it's a day-long event that includes, of course, an interview but also a writing sample and a teaching sample...the writing sample is pretty self-evident: you're given a topic and then have like 20 minutes or so to write about it or whatever...the teaching sample will be 5 minutes (and no more) of teaching a subject of your choice...of course it shouldn't be too in-depth or anything, but must have a discernable beginning, middle, and end...i think i've picked my subject: factorials...does anyone reading this (should anyone be) remember when you learned about factorials? was it high school? my wife says she learned about 'em in middle school (maybe 5th grade) but she was also super-advanced and in a more thorough school system as well...i really can't remember when i learned 'em...all my memories about them are from college, but i don't remember when the basics came...i think high school...hrm...anyway...
today at work i finished reading The Review of Contemporary Fiction Spring 2010 | Vol. XXX: Writing from Postcommunist Romania and it was good...well, my wife's calling for dinner so must run!
