last night after work Mary Beth and i went to a little celebration thingie for Amy's birthday...we caught the tail end of the restaurant part but afterwards was the corn maze out at the agricenter...it was a corn maze...at one point we went under a bridge where another path crossed over and in the spirit of walking under a bridge i started singing the obvious chili peppers song and did my slo-mo anthony kedis run and some staff guy standing atop the bridge asked if i was high...also earlier a werewolf asked some people in front of us to put out their cigarettes...today i did some consumering...Mary Beth and i went and had lunch/breakfast at the blue plate then we went to spin street and i got a couple cds: Battles: Mirrored and Sun Ra: The Night of the Purple Moon (first used second new) then we went to bookstar and i got a couple books: Oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood and The Golden Notebook by Doris Lessing (yeah, i'm being a nobel prize fanboy...she seems interesting anyway...) apart from that, uh...

i am curious about your thoughts on oryx and crake. it's been a few years since i have read it though...so any specifics will probably just go right over my head. my favorite part is the adapation of purring to heal people. i actually do believe that cats, with their extreme sensitivity to their human companions, do try to make us feel better with the purring. since i read the book, i have taken note of times that i have had a headache and one of the cats has curled up around my head, or had cramps and one has curled up on my stomach...i seriously think it is my favorite part of the book.

there were a few times in my past when i was a total wreck emotionally and physically and i remember my cat coming from nowhere and standing watch over me all night and day. it makes me so silently mad when people write cats off as insensitive and uncaring compared to dogs. if a cat cares about you, it definitely tries to comfort you and can tell when you're distressed.
