another full day of overtime yesterday...i finished reading Swann's Way by Marcel Proust...afterwards Mary Beth and i stumbled in a state of slumbrous stupor (on my part anyway) to the p&h for karaoke and a somewhat informal going away party for someone we kind of know...the atmosphere there on karaoke night is abhorrent...i'd seriously rather be surrounded by rednecks and frat dudes...anyway, i sang "Hero"...it wasn't that great but it was okay...what else? i woke up too early...that's about it...

doesn't lauren host the karaoke night? that could explain the atmosphere...

she mans the karaoke machine and this other guy who does trivia, short with the beard sort of looks like Paul C. (Brandon? i forget his name, i played on a team with him once...he works for the radio or something...) well that guy's the mc or whatever and he's a bit of a douche...the crowd is just awful...buncha jackasses, and real cliquey to boot...

I really miss karaoke at Neils. They had the selection, at least, and not to mention the video karaoke. I stopped by Windjammer Friday night, and it was about on par with Yosemite Sams. (I also found out how lame it is to go to a karaoke bar by yourself; I didn't even check the selection). When karaoke first started at P&H, it seemed promising, like they were building it from the ground up, but they haven't done anything with it since, and it's just a bunch of people seeing how loud and off-key they can scream into the microphone.

and the people who show up for it make it exponentially worse!

that's weird, Mary Beth went to the Windjammer for the first time ever on thursday...i was working overtime myself...i went there a few times years ago...she said she liked its atmosphere, at least so far as for karaoke...the p&h was pretty abysmal though...

I mean, from what I could tell, the atmosphere was much better; people took it loads more seriously than at P&H. ..maybe if I could go one day with a group of people, I'd probably enjoy myself.
