i had myself a nice overtime-free friday evening for once...and hoorah the end of guruing...but uh, yeah after work, well i didn't make too much use of my free time but it's jolly nonetheless...Mary Beth and i hung out for the evening...i watched Kafka for the first time in like 10 years or something...since i saw it in my younger days i thought it was a pretty great movie...one of my favorites, i guess...but seeing it again was a little disappointing...it's not BAD or anything, but a lot of it's pretty cheesy...the dialogue is embarassingly cliché in parts...and i'm all for unusual camera angles, one of my favorite things about movies...but a lot of the scenes have that stereotypical bad art film feel with the angles and the composition actually almost made me want to laugh...but regardless, for nostalgic purposes this movie will always have something of a warm spot in my heart...and the giant movie poster above my tv in my bedroom will be staying up (at LEAST for the three foot reproduction of Jeremy Irons's head!)

yesterday i went again to get my brakes inspected but they said there's nothing wrong with them! at least this time i wasn't charged so it was a nice winning situation for me...then Mary Beth and i made a trip to Burke's...i was after some gifts, but in the process, of course, got something for myself: The Job: Interviews with William S. Burroughs by Daniel Odier, The Executioner's Song by Norman Mailer, Miss MacIntosh, My Darling Volume Two by Marguerite Young, Sombrero Fallout by Richard Brautigan, Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro, Other Voices, Other Rooms by Truman Capote, and Among the Believers: an Islamic Journey by V.S. Naipaul...and just when i'd caught up with my "unread" books...ah well...

then it was Amber's birthday party...we were supposed to meet at Fresh Slices where i'd never been put it was fulled up so we defaulted to India Palce, which is always good...afterwards we (Jacques, Ambert, Jason, Mary Beth, and myself) went bowling...hadn't been to Imperial in forever (much better than lame Billy Hardwick's...) we also squeezed in some air hockey until the table ate the puck and Hoop Fever (with a basket-counting sensor that that picked up about 1/10th of the shots you made and occasionally a few you didn't!) bowling was fun, i actually did okay (for me) when i settled on balls that were somewhat decent and didn't destroy my thumb too badly...we capped off the night with some pie at perkins...swell!

i woke up 'cuz Berl (our maintenance dude) was supposed to replace a window (again) and once again it's been put off...ah well...oh yeah! and last night my phone started to fuck up! it functions properly, but the screen is blank now, so you just can't see what's going on...i guess the connection inside came loose or something...kinda fucked up, but uh...oh well...i guess i'll have to get it fixed or replaced or whatever those phone companies do...i signed up for a TON of overtime next week...every fucking day...most days 5 hours, but two days had a couple hours taken so i only got 3 hours...i'll be working a total of 21 fucking hours extra...i'll probably be dead but i'll like have some money and stuff...anyway...
