woke up this morning a little after 9:30 and i called Chris and woke him up...he said he'd come over around noon on his way to town and drop my microphone back off w/ me...he did...i talked to one of the girls in my english project group and she said there was some some articles dealing w/ the Naked Lunch movie and stuff (i'm cornering the movie angle for the group...) so i went over to her house and got the articles...then off to The Apartment for much rock to happen!

Jacques all had a headache and stuff so i went to the local Exxon and got him some tylenol 'cuz i owed him some money...after a while the recording of our cover of Free Kitten's "Strawberry Milk" (thanks to you for the song suggestion, as all my first choices were taken...) as you may recall last week Jacques and i recorded the guitar and Moog parts (Jacques on guitar and me on Moog)...today we first added drums and string synth and then vocals...

first we played last week's recording back through Paul's stereo into the mixing board (this is in Jacques' room, all going back out into Jacques' stereo to be recorded while we listened through his speakers) and i played David's Korg Lambda (ES-50) through his delay pedal (i was just doing long drones) and we set up my drums in the hallway and my microphone as far away as we could get it (which wasn't too far, as the cable wasn't too long...) it was a little awkward 'cuz the guitar playing from last week was had its own interesting rhythm which we didn't notice until later...but we managed and worked w/ the iffy rhythm as best we could...the drums in the first part were all normal, but then for the second part he started playing all fast and jerky and arhythmic and i was pushing the "on/off" button for the channel and having the drums all start-stop mid beat and all fucked up...it ruled (an idea i borrowed from Joan of Arc more or less...)

then for the third and final "overdubbing" i was able to bend the laws of physics and stretch the mic cable into the closet across the hall...and i sang the vocals in there while Jacques duely adjusted the level...it went rather well...i REALLY liked the sound we got for the drums...actually everthing had a good sound...the vocals, (the Moog, as i mentioned last week...) but my favorite is the sound i got out of the drums, i might like the Moog's sound best if it were a little louder, but the sound was so cool we didn't wanna go back and redo it and get a different less cool sound...but it worked well quiet too, as it was mostly textural...but anyways...as i have so much work to do i came back home where i haven't been doing any of it...yea...bugger stuff!

i've decided that i enjoy the recording process quite a lot...running around trying to figure out how to do things you shouldn't be able to do w/ what you have is so much fun to me...especially when it turns out sounding reasonably good...woohoo...
