belated Thanksgiving post
Nov. 25th, 2000 12:31 pmWed. night :: i went w/ my parents to Joe's Crab Shack where we met some relatives (it was for my aunt's birthday...) my grandmother came home w/ us 'cuz we were going to take her to the airport in the morning 'cuz she was going to spend Thanksgiving w/ one of my uncles in Minnesota...i went and hung out at Justin's apartment for a little while...David and Jacques came over and we watched Evil Dead 2...rock'n'roll...yea...the went to go out and i went home as i had to be up in a short amount of time...
Thanksgiving day :: i woke up at 6:30 after about 5 or so hrs of sleep...we drove my grandmother to the airport...my mom and i went in w/ carrying her stuff and whatnot...walking to her gate i saw one of the most attractive girls ever...she had this Ramones patch on her purse (punkrock) and some others that i couldn't make out as they were smaller...and she had these boots...i dunno...she was an extremely attractive punkrock chick i guess...i dunno...just another reason to cry or something...(emo-core...) then we continued on to Helena, AR to spend Thanksgiving w/ my aunt and uncle...exposition: my uncle and aunt have just recently been hired as the ppl who like do all the stuff that there is to do at the assisted living place that my grandmother now lives in...(the caretakers, i guess, they are...or something...) and they live there now...so we had Thanksgiving over there in the cafeteria...it's not a very big place and the cafeteria's pretty small...aside from my mom, dad, uncle, aunt, and i there were 3 old ladies that live there and one old man...and we ate there talking to the old ppl and stuff...it was oddly kind've cool, actually...and you're prob'ly thinking "cafeteria, icky..." but the food was very good actually...another aunt and uncle and two cousins were supposed to show too, but they didn't...oh yea: before we ate we sat around and my uncle was watching the History channel...Greatest Blunders in History series thingie...it fucking ruled...one of the "episodes" was about De Loreon...it was cool, the History channel fucking rules...i just wanted to throw that in...then afterwards my dad and my uncle watched football and i tried to nap on the couch but just sat there...oh yea, another of the History channel episodes was about the Tacoma Narrows bridge disaster, where the design was faulty and the whole bridge oscillated when high winds hit it and finally fell apart...so this kept making me think about the drive back across the Mississippi river...woohoo! (i always have mild paranoia about going over bridges, especially older and smaller ones like the Helena bridge...but when the time came to actually cross it, i was listening to cds and lost in thought and didn't even think about it...) when i got home i went over to The Apartment and sat around w/ Jacques...when David got off work he brought his speakers into the living room and his stereo thingie and we had the planned "cd party" where we sat around listening to various cds...then i went home and slept...
yesterday :: woke up and went to The Apartment...sat around w/ Jacques for a while...then Madie showed up w/ her friend from Pensacola (sic?) and her boyfriend and my old friend who now lives in Atlanta: John Bowlan! after a while of sitting around we went and ate at Pho Saigon, a rockin' Vietnamese restaurant...then back to The Apartment...Jacques and i drove w/ John in his car...the rest in Madie's...on her way back she rear ended this car (it was all raining...) it was pretty minor, i'm sure she goes into great detail in her journal so i'll leave you to her explanation which would prob'ly be better than mine since i wasn't even there...but it really sucks that it happened to her...after that Justin came over and we went to some guy that Madie knows' apartment and hung out there...Justin left after a while to go w/ David to Shooters (redneck bar in Raleigh...i *guess* it'd be funny to go, but hanging out w/ John was a far greater priority...) Brad came over bringing *IT*...the greatest movie ever conceived and brought to celluloid!!!: Chairman of the Board (starring the greatest comic genius of our (and any other) generation: CARROT TOP!) it was pure genius...i don't think i'll ever be able to even watch 2001: A Space Odyssey w/out feeling shame...after that we drove out to Steak'n'Shake (our latenight half-hour-away standby...) i dropped John off at his car on the way back afterwards and back to unknown guy's apartment...a few minutes afterwards they decided they wanted to go to bed...so Brad went home and i dropped Jacques off and went home myself...i went to sleep...it was quite the fun evening...
