Back Around

While looking for something on my desk, I ran across this cd that I didn't realize I'd gotten a good bit over a year ago!! It was sent as an extra along with the other Kotra cds I got back then. So, also as extras were included a good number of stickers and since this is a 3" cd and of a much smaller size, much closer to that of a sticker than a regular cd, I think I'd thought it was another sticker and didn't realize it was a cd at all. But I just ran across it and realized what it actually is, so that's cool, a surprise from the not very distant past! After work Mary Beth and I went and looked at two houses. One is a house that I really like 'cuz it has a converted attic that could be a very long and narrow music space. This place actually seems to be in relatively great compared to other places we'd looked at. Its drawback is being right next to one of these new ugly condo apartment buildings, next to its parking lot really. Which we knew, and is maybe the kind of thing we could deal with. The other place was one Mary Beth liked for its house, but maybe it's in less great shape (probably not too terrible) though its big drawback it that it's next door to this house that's probably abandoned. Lots of "keep out private property" signs and in the backyard (on the other side of the house we looked at) the fence was completely collapsed. Just seems like being next to that house could have some problems. But it's all a moot point as we've come back around to where we were and are going back to that rental I looked at. The home buying track is too risky and uncertain and it's possible we could spend months even after we settled on a house and it could end up falling through, and also it's probably way too important to be doing rushed and under duress. So I guess moving to this other rental will at least buy us some time and eliminate the uncertainty of our current situation. In the late evening Josh came by to pick up some gear I'm offloading, pieces of gear that are broken and that he could fix up and keep: my Arp Axxe that was modded to be semi-modular (never worked), my Paia theremin (a kit that I built but didn't get to work), this old stereo reverb unit someone gave me that didn't ever work, my Electro-Harmonix Frequency Analyzer ring mod pedal (used to work and it was my favorite-sounding ring mod ever), and my MXR analog delay pedal (same as the last, used to work and was my favorite-sounding analog delay). While he was there we hung out outside with Mary Beth and talked for a good long while into the night. It was a nice time. Then later at night I worked on mostly finishing my patching for the show coming up very soon. I still haven't worked with any actual sound yet, but I think the patch setup is at least mostly complete so I can start hearing what it sounds like next.
