Women in the Arts

Mary Beth and I got up to go to the Women in the Arts event (shared between the Dixon and Theatre Memphis). We started at the first talk up at the Dixon. It was a panel discussion that mostly focused on marketing and finance kinda stuff. There were some good people on the panel and I liked a lot of what said but the overall subject is a little boring to me (probably to my detriment as I tend to glaze over when people talk about practical financial stuff that could probably benefit me). Then we had some eggrolls from a food truck before we headed over to Theatre Memphis. We caught a poetry reading from Book of Karon (that's her nom de plume). Then we attacked the food truck over there (the same one that we ate from last year) and had some delicious duck confit and duck barbecue nachos. Then we went back in for the last talk which was a group of artists interviewing each other in turns. April came by (I had gotten a text from Nate after we'd left the Dixon that he saw us but we had left by then...Nate and Patti had to go home after that but April came over for this last panel). Anyway, I enjoyed it. Kong Wee Pang was one of the panelists. After that it was back home. And then we went out to dinner at Brooklyn Bridge (had never been but Mary Beth's been craving some 80s/90s style saucy Italian-American food).
