Rolling On

I put the recording of Friday night's show up on bandcamp. You'll find that embedded right down below as I'm sure you can already see! I finished reading Intruder in the Dust by William Faulkner. It was good. A lot of the writing was top-notch Faulkner, although it delves a good bit into the political in places and that's less of a strength. Mary Beth and I went on a dinner sunset riverboat cruise thing in the evening-to-night. It was fun. There was some cheap barbecue for dinner that wasn't too bad. The sunset was very nice. The weather's been astonishingly gorgeous the past few nights. And last night was probably the nicest of them all. There was a live band and they played the kind of stuff you'd expect them to play (mostly in the soul to blues kind of spectrum) but they opened with "Time Is Tight" and that was nice, they also at some point played "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" which also meets my high approval. We were out on the water a few hours. They pretty much take you down and up the length of the city. A little past the south bridge up to before the river bends and then up to just around the north bridge. Afterwards we had some time on our parking space so we walked down to Catherine & Mary’s and had some drinks and a little dessert (they have one mocktail on the menu for me and it's good). I inadvertently asked the waiter to go over the menu spiel when we weren't planning to order dinner like that so I felt dumb. Then walk back to the other end of downtown to our car and home we go.

Here's a really boring anecdote that I forgot mention in my last post when I was focused on less boring things. So I got an email that's like there was a request to reset your instagram password for the account "thefamilyghostmemphis". And I'm like, that's Jacques's ig handle, why is the email coming to me? I messaged him trying to solve this mystery but it wasn't him so I'm figuring it might be phishing though the links seem legit. But then I realize that Jacques's handle has an underscore in it and this is different and I'm just confused as to where it's even coming from, because, though I have a few accounts around elsewhere with the name "thefamilyghost" none have "memphis" as part of it. So then I go look it up and my memory is jogged! It was for that first hackathon I did back in 2015 and we used instagram in it for before/after pictures so I'd just created this account and literally used it the one time and completely forgot it existed. (And that's where the picture for the below recording comes from.) So then I deleted the account to not have a security vulnerability dangling out there (as I'm sure the email came from someone trying to break into unused and forgotten old accounts). I thought I also had something to mention about the show that I'd forgotten, but I can't remember anything else so I'll just end this thing.
