I got everything packed up for my show (tonight), not looking forward to loading and hauling all this shit today but it'll be worth it! (Unless it all goes wrong since I've only been able to practice it in pieces...but it's all simple pieces, so...?) Mary Beth and I went to a show at night at the Hi Tone. First up was Little Baby Tendencies and they were good and we got some t-shirts. Then it was a surprise because Liars Serum played (he replaced Pity Invite who was on the flyer and I guess ended up not being able to play, Suroor was there, but I didn't see the rest of the band). Then it was I've Never Been Here Before who's on tour and they had kind of a "hyperpop" sort of thing, dancing around and singing to pre-recorded tracks (except the last song which was on acoustic guitar). And last it was June Henry who played acoustic guitar (and banjo on a couple songs). They were described as "folk punk" but it wasn't quite that (though not far), maybe "folk emo" is closer? It was kinda unusual for a typical small room show where there were a few kids (I mean, probably just barely adults) there for this touring artist and they were super into it and were singing along to some of the songs. It seems like June might have a small internet hit and a few fans here in Memphis. That's cool.
