Ikea Party
Jun. 9th, 2024 10:10 amDustin had his birthday party at Ikea. Mary Beth had come down with (probably) a cold so she wasn't feeling up to making it. I've been feeling on the verge of one with the scratchy throat coming and going for the past couple days (still hasn't developed further yet) so I went but masked up. So when he first mentioned this Ikea scavenger hunt birthday party I thought it was somehow something run by Ikea itself, but I guess that makes absolutely no sense. It was just Dustin came up with a list of stuff to look for and sent us this list then we had to go around the store taking pictures of these things. He had a rule that you had to have someone else on our "team" (we were all just one team, it wasn't like a real official competition). Then a little later he went back and said that was too complicated and we didn't have to do that, but then we kept doing it anyway (it was kinda more fun that way). We just naturally kind of broke off into pairs or small groups and I ended up sticking with Dustin. It was fun. We broke for lunch at Ikea's cafeteria so I had some Swedish meatballs (I mean, as if they really even have anything else!). Then we scavenger hunted for a bit longer. After I came home Mary Beth and I went over to the Park. We first grabbed some popsicles from a truck and ate them walking around the pond. We saw a huge turtle out of the pond and walk farther away from it than we'd ever seen (for a turtle! but then it went back in). There was a big loud party over by the playground but otherwise the park was relatively sparse of people. Then we walked around a bit in the Old Forest. Later after that I finished recording my reading of Sphinx onto the tape for the show next week (technically this week as of today, barely...on both ends). Now just need to practice playing it all together. Okay.
