I got my replacement recorder in the mail yesterday. I've now upgraded from a DR-40 to a DR-40X. (The newer model is almost exactly the same but there are a few upgrades. The ones mainly affecting me are that it now takes sd cards with higher storage (don't have anything higher than 32GB yet, but those are already a ton for recording music!) and it's screen light is a light blue instead of orange and it's supposedly easier to read in the dark, and probably some other minor things that I may or may not notice). I got that too-small Eleh shirt mailed out to seah and Mykel yesterday. I made the final changes in my scripts yesterday and it's all working end-to-end. I may do a little more to combine, because I currently will run 3 scripts, two for setup and one for execution and I think the second setup script can be combined into something else. A couple things I forgot to mention in yesterday's post (so things that happened the day before): I got us some Slowdive tickets for next year! It was a presale for an unseemly music streaming company, but I searched the internet and found a six-month-old reddit thread with a code for Slowdive presale back then and used it and it still worked! So I got the tickets (regular tickets go on sale today but I don't have to worry about that). Also that day, I did that thing where you hold your nose and blow out to relieve sinus pressure in your ear even though you pretty much know this always makes it worse but you still try it anyway. Well, it made it worse. And actually this was the worst it ever did. Not only did my left ear go from feeling a little blocked up to a complete and total wall of absolute pressure and now I can't even hear out of it, but I got a sudden influx of vertigo (which almost never happens to me) and everything was spinning and I had to lean back and close my eyes. I did remedy it and got my ear back to normal a little later with the hydrogen peroxide in my ear trick. Also it had a second bonus in that I got more ear gunk out of it that time than any since the first time I did that trick at the recommendation of the doctor making me earplugs but had to wait because there was too much impacted wax in my ear!
