I tried to record the last part of the piece I'm working on. I recorded the first part of the "foreground". I even drew up a little pseudo graphical score (just the sparse rhythm pattern so I wouldn't get lost). Then when I tried to record the second part I immediately realized it just would not work at all. So the idea was two similar parts that kind of loosely interweave and interlock. And I didn't want them to line up exactly, but it's so slow and sparse that on the second pass they weren't even lining up at all. And there was too much empty space to reasonably try to get the two parts even working in the same ballpark. After thinking about it a while, I think I have a new idea (less structured but should hopefully get the effect I was initially hoping for and maybe even with some more variation). But now I just need the time to come up to do it. In the later afternoon Mary Beth and I did a front yard tub hangout. She hung out in the tub and I sat in a chair. We even had Peanut hanging out with us. He was mostly chill after we fed him, but once I was going inside and I guess moved in a startling way and he hit me. At least he didn't use claws. Then when we were sitting around, he mostly sat near us and even at a point showed his belly. It's kinda funny when a semi-feral cat is trying to be friendly but doesn't really know how at all. That's about it for our holiday day yesterday.
