Memphis Concrète Live Stream Day 2
Jun. 27th, 2021 09:47 amYesterday mostly went very well. The same thing that was the worst thing happened though! And it happened at the same time slot, the 6th performer. I was not able to get any sound from Infanta Silhouette and so her set was missed. I was thinking it was something weird with the server caching and something getting stuck with the number of connections (I know it's not strictly time-based as I streamed for ten-plus hours), but she messaged me later saying she had recorded the set and then that didn't have any sound either, so maybe the 6th was a coincidence and there was something not set up right on her end? Not sure. But "other than that", everyone was great again and everything went well. It started off with a hiccup and the person wasn't connecting right but I did my usual things and we got it going and I was even able to get back on schedule (from just like five minutes behind) after a few artists. Andrew Raffo Dewar had a bit of cutting out towards the end in a few places (mostly it went well). Then he told me he found out afterwards that his wife had let his daughter stream something during his set so it may have been that double pressure on his internet connection. Anyway, really it generally went quite well. I need to do some more research about cache-clearing as another backup plan for today.
And yeah, that was yesterday morning. I was trying to figure out the issues from Friday. And after a bunch of troubleshooting and then panicking, I found it. It was dormant video files sitting in the obs project. I was able to delete the backup video and that reduced about ten to fifteen percent of cpu usage. So, I'd had that on it during all the practicing, but it was a different file as I redid it to add Karl's credit. And maybe when I re-rendered it, the new file size was larger and less compressed or something. Also, I went from one holding video to fifteen and, though those are all very small fifteen second videos and files, they cumulatively may have pushed it over the edge? Not sure, but deleting the one helped and I can just add it if it becomes needed. Also had another t-shirt order on Friday so I did a quick post office run and mailed it off yesterday morning. I continued to to keep my Mexicoke cooler stocked and filled with ice and right by my side. This time Mary Beth joined me in the same room instead of listening from the other room, sitting on my personal-computer-chair (while I sat on my work-computer-chair as that's the area why the pi is).
