Mary Beth and I met my family out at the Picadilly in Germantown. The food's not very good, but in a way it has its own sort of sad charm. Good to see the family and all. Right before we left, had a small little conversation about books and movies with Jason. He asked what I was reading and then I asked him and he's reading The Shining 'cuz he saw Dr. Sleep. I asked if he'd seen the movie of The Shining and he had. Anthony asked me what my favorite movie was and so I told him 2001: a Space Odyssey and Jason recognized it as Kubrick. He said he should see it. I did warn him of its slow pace. Then we came home and I had some packages in the mail. I got a few modules: AJH Mini Mod Transistor Ladder Filter, Mutable Instruments Veils, and Mutable Instruments Branches. Spent a good bit of the afternoon/evening putting 'em in my case and then tested 'em out and I'm pretty satisfied! Also got a cd order: Coil: Stolen & Contaminated Songs, Anthology of Electroacoustic Lebanese Music, Anthology of Contemporary Music from Africa Continent, Anthology of Contemporary Music from Middle East, and (this was a free promo sort of thing) Earthen: a Cold Spring Sampler. Later at night, Mary Beth and I watched Office Space. I'd actually never seen it before, but I guess you mostly know it through twenty years of cultural osmosis. So well, now I have seen it. And now this super-long weekend continues.
