Had a nice big day with Mary Beth yesterday. First we ran by the post office and I mailed off a Memphis Concrète cd that someone had ordered online (a rare event! actually, yeah, I think the first time it's happened). Then we swung by MCA for the big art bazaar or whatever they call it. We even picked up a piece as a gift to someone. Also picked up this awesome book from their culling called Artist and Computer and it's from the 70s and everything about it is very 70s and it's filled with awesome early computer art! Then we went to Paradiso where we watched the live piping in of Philip Glass's Akhnaten from The Met. It was really good. It was a very lavish production and I often don't go in for that sort of thing but it was lavish in a pretty awesome way. It was both lavish and minimal at the same time if that makes sense. The set with the giant sun was really awesome with the contrasting, shifting lighting/colors. And the music was, of course, awesome and very Philip Glass. After that, grocery shopping and then back home. Later at night we watched Rocky. Had never seen it before (though saw four and five back when I was a kid). The comp that Zachary put together got put up last night: A Heart Unseen: Weird Memphis 2019. Here's the embed of my track ("Standard", once again, I probably over compressed it, oh well, I'll get it right some day, maybe?) though the whole thing is filled with friends and good music:
