Office of the County Clerk
Nov. 12th, 2019 05:13 pmI had a fun adventure with bureaucracy this morning! So I woke up early to go to the county clerk's office to get a duplicate title before work (as they open an hour before I generally go in). So I go to the nearby branch that I always go to and then am told that I can't do that at the branch, it has to be at the main office downtown and they don't open til 8. Well, so I end up going back up there. By the time I went back home and packed my lunch it wasn't too much earlier anyway. But I get down there and they don't open the building til exactly 8. Also I guess you can't put money in the meter before 8 too 'cuz it kept cancelling my payment (though it was before 8 which is when the pay time window starts, I'd be in the building after 8 so I still need to pay but it wouldn't let me). Well, they finally open up and I get in and then am told that they're still showing Wells Fargo has a lien on my car. I'd paid off the loan like over nine years ago, I think. But they need Wells Fargo to send over the proof and they give me a number to call (though I have to get transferred from that number to another one since, apparently, Wells Fargo has two auto loan departments whose systems don't talk to each other). But I get to the other one and give them the number to fax the proof over to and they say it'll take two business days. Ugh. So I'm not able to hand over any paperwork early, I just have to go back after they've gotten the proof faxed over. So, while not quite all-for-naught, it felt a little like I was walking away empty handed. At least I'm closer to getting it done. One nice thing is it was snowing this morning. As I came back from the first county clerk run it was just starting to lightly float down. It was still pretty light when I left to go downtown, but once I crossed the bridge over I-240 and entered downtown, it was coming down much harder. And there were bits of snow on the ground. Didn't last or anything, but felt like a nice little winter wonderland at the moment. So I sat in my car waiting for the office to open with snow all about. What else? I believe I had two things from earlier than I'd forgotten to mention earlier. Oh yes! A big thing I forgot was that our heater got fixed yesterday and now our apartment has heat and not too soon! It was cold last night (evidenced by the snow that happened). And it'd been a little rough over this past weekend without it, but no more! The other thing is a work thing. It was official that the pilot I'm working on and would have been officially starting next Monday has been postponed about a month. Everyone working on it KNEW it wasn't feasible as uat testing is still going on and there are still issues all around, but the word finally became official. I dunno, I guess that's about it.
