ateolf: (METAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Tuesday evening was pretty relaxed. Mary Beth and I caught up on Bluff City Law and that's about it. Yesterday night was pretty busy! Mary Beth and I went up to Crosstown for the opening night of Indie Memphis. We watched a screening of Harriet, a biopic about Harriet Tubman. It was good, a bit dramaticized in that Hollywood way, but good within that realm. We got out Indie Memphis shirts and then headed across the street to fuckin' see The Body at the Hi-Tone!!! There were two local openers, Obake and Autolith. They were both pretty alright, for their respective metal subgenres. Neither was one-hundred percent my thing but they each had stuff that piqued my interest and were both not at all bad. The Body was fucking great. It's the third time I've seen them, first in my own town. They had the standard guitar and drums setup this time (the last time they just had tables full of pedals plus a third guy doing samples). They played a middle-length 25 minute set (more than the 20 minutes the first time I saw 'em and they were in that configuration!). Oh, it was also the first time I'd seen them headlining, strangely enough. But yeah, it's The fuckin' Body so they were great. Picked up a little merch, a t-shirt that says "THERE'S NO LIVING BEAUTY" and a bumper sticker that says "PAIN AND BOREDOM."

At work today was the annual chili cookoff contest. Mary Beth wanted to make some chili so I brought hers in. Didn't win (though the chili was damn delicious). I made a mistake in what I ate, 'cuz they had catered-sized chili they brought since probably what was brought for the contest wouldn't be enough to feed everyone, but I got too much of that and the chili people brought was much better. I didn't even get to try all that much. The only other one I tried than Mary Beth's was one that was made with goat. The problem (as it always is) is that very few people enter the "vegetarian" and "whatever" categories and most people enter the "classic beef" category so that one's much harder to win. I did win a raffle (a $25 Visa gift card)...though they took it back (filling out paperwork reasons...though in Halloween perspective, they turned a treat into a trick?). Those facebook electronic music challenges I entered are finally up! Actually the real old one got put out last week and I missed seeing it. That's the tape music challenge. And then the dance music challenge just got released. Here are my tracks. Haven't had a chance to listen to the rest but I'm sure they're awesome as hell!
